In the heart of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona lies Carrer Petritxol , a tiny street with a long history, it was built in 1465. Today Petritxol is a traditional destination for Catalans to have their xocolata (hot chocolate), a perfect break when the weather is chilly. Be sure to take your time and notice the many custom made wall tiles, commemorating some of the streets most valued characters, including the blind beggar and his little dog, Mr. Russinyol’s beard, the trembling shadow of Poet Angel Guimera. If you ever do visit Carrer Petritxol in person be sure to stop in at Sala Pares, the oldest art gallery in Spain, which opened in 1877.
